Adam Kaduce is many things – A graduate of Drake Law School, a Des Moines 40 Under 40 recipient and a broker with R&R Real Estate Advisors. R&R’s Marketing Director, Spencer recently sat down with Adam to learn more about his background and expertise:
Tell me a little about your background, Adam.
I was born and raised (and continue to live) in Urbandale. It’s where I’ve spent my whole life and it’s a place that means a lot to me, simply put, it’s home. I received my bachelor’s degree in finance from Drake and began interning with R&R between my junior and senior year, learning about the industry and helping on deals. Law school was always something I knew I wanted to do, so I was fortunate enough to continue working at R&R while pursuing my J.D. at Drake. Once I graduated law school, I began as a broker here full-time.
What would you say your specialty is within the world of commercial real estate?
I would say my specialty is using real estate to help companies move to the next level! That comes in two forms. The first is helping companies expand their real estate. With the economy growing, so many of our customers are hiring and need to expand. More team members equal more real estate. The best thing about R&R Realty Group is that we have a large enough portfolio that we can assist companies at all stages of their growth. Start up to build to suit, we can help.
Secondly, companies are elevating their office space by using their space as a tool in the war for talent. As companies asses their marketability for talent, their office space is one element. One of the best parts of my role is getting to walk businesses through that transformation. They want their space to be authentic of their culture, their people, and their values. We are fortunate we have a team of people that can assist them through that process. Office space is being transformed from a liability to an asset, and we are helping companies manage that change.
You’re pretty active within the community – What all are you involved in?
I definitely try to stay busy! I’m a member of the Des Moines AM Rotary Club and serve on the the Urbandale Economic Development Advisory Board, along with the advisory councils for the College of Business and Public Administration and the Donald V. Adams Leadership Institute at Drake University. I also currently serve as the Economic Development Committee Chair for the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, the vice chairman of Endow Urbandale and as Treasurer for the Iowa Events Center Hotel.
I’m also proud of my career accomplishments, which include an SIOR designation, inclusion in Real Estate Forum’s “Fifty under 50” list and graduate certificates from the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, the R&R Leadership Institute and Leadership Iowa. I was also named R&R’s “Top Producer” in 2017 and received recognition from Real Estate Forum as an “Emerging Industrial Leader”.
What’s your favorite thing about Des Moines?
Well, I’m a pretty big fan of “Wine Down Wednesday” at the Downtown Des Moines Hy-Vee. I mean, who doesn’t love half-price sushi and wine?!
But in all seriousness, the best thing in Des Moines is the superior climate for business. We have a uniquely collaborative dynamic between civic governments and businesses that allows us to punch well above our weight class as a metro. I also love the layout of the metro – Businesses are able to locate in a variety of places, which leads to a distinctive kind of vibrancy that other metros don’t really have. Finally, I love our cost of living. When paired with our educated population, it makes Des Moines a really great place to live and work.
