What’s our story?
Founded by Daniel Rupprecht as a commercial real estate company in 1985, R&R Realty Group quickly became one of the largest real estate development and property management firms in Iowa. R&R currently owns and manages nearly 10 million square feet of office, retail, multifamily and warehouse facilities. In addition, R&R owns several hundred acres of land for future development. By virtue of our successful past, R&R Realty Group has evolved into a full-service real estate company. Today, our subsidiary services include construction management, brokerage, development, acquisitions, property management, and technology services.
1985: R&R is Founded
R&R Realty Group begins operations and within a year acquires the land for Three Fountains Office Park and Aurora Business Park while also developing the Terrace Center Building.
1986: Winwood Apartments
Our first (and to this day, largest) multi-family development was Winwood Apartments in Johnston. The community features 418 units, two clubhouses, a pool and an exercise facility.
1988: Country Club Office Plaza
160 acres of land along what is now Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines would eventually become Country Club Office Plaza. Development began three years after R&R acquired the land, kicking off with the construction of the Wells Fargo Card Services Building.
1996: Meredith Business Park
Throughout the 1990s, R&R grew its portfolio to include warehouse spaces alongside office and flex options. These warehouse developments included Meredith Business Park and Interstate Acres Industrial Park, both located within Urbandale’s Urban Loop.
2000: R&R Subsidiaries Created
As R&R continued to grow, leadership saw an opportunity. Various departments were transformed into subsidiary companies that continue to grow and thrive to this day. These subsidiaries include:

2005: Continued Growth
Throughout the 2000s, R&R continued to grow, acquiring Country Club Village Apartments in West Des Moines and commencing development on Paragon Office Park in Urbandale. Also acquired during this time was Capitol Center, a trio of office buildings located in the heart of Des Moines’ Historic East Village. Other activities included the construction of Marsh’s Des Moines office in 2006.
2007: Paragon Prairie Tower
A centerpiece of R&R’s development history, this 120-foot icon tells of the accomplishments and aspirations of the people of Iowa and the Midwest while paying homage to the history of the native Iowa prairie. The image is clad of state-of-the-art Italian glass mosaic tile and the base of the column integrates a frieze of prairie grass in modeled relief.
2008: Weathering the Storm
As the Great Recession swept across the economy, R&R displayed resolve and prudence through a series of moves, including renovations at existing buildings and the acquisition of Regency West Office Park. Throughout the difficult economic period, the primary commitment was to customers and partners.
2015: Prairie Business Park
Since 2015, R&R has been developing, constructing and leasing a new generation of warehouse space in Grimes. Prairie Business Park has attracted users due to its in-demand features like 32 foot clear heights and ESFR fire suppression systems. When completed, the park will house nearly 1,000,000 square feet of space.
2018: The Paradigm Building
Located on Meredith Drive in Urbandale’s Urban Loop area, the Paradigm Building is a brand-new speculative office building with amenities intended to help employers attract and retain top talent. Special attention was given to collaborative spaces, both indoor and outdoor.
2019: The Westfield Campus
The Westfield Campus is the crown jewel in R&R’s portfolio of office space. Built alongside Jordan Creek Parkway in Country Club Office Park, Westfield is 180,000 square feet of modern office space unlike anything else in the Des Moines metro. Features of the campus include a common space available to customers, two outdoor collaborative work areas, underground parking and a top of the line exercise facility. The Westfield Campus isn’t just an office. It’s the office of the future.
