The team members of R&R Realty Group continue to say “YES” to the many needs in the Greater Des Moines area. Helping people is what we do at R&R Realty Group. Beyond serving our clients’ needs, our professionals devote their time, money and efforts to several local charities and activities, including the United Way of Central Iowa, ChildServe, Youth Emergency Services and Shelter (YESS), Variety of Iowa, Junior Achievement, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, BRAVO, Make-A-Wish, Food Bank of Iowa and many more. Our willingness to help is rooted deep in our culture; it’s part of our company’s core values.
Each year, thanks to the generous contributions of our employees, R&R Realty Group makes a generous donation to the United Way of Central Iowa to provide necessary programs and services to help local people in need. R&R is pleased to announce the 2017 United Way campaign resulted in a record breaking year with a total of $147,458 monies raised.
R&R Realty Group and its employees, customers and vendors joined forces to make a difference in the lives of children. R&R’s employees voted on the charity to support this year and Dorothy’s House was selected.
Through the support of R&R Realty and the community, children find comfort at Dorothy’s House, designed to provide a holistic approach to helping teen girls and youth who have been victims of severe sexual abuse/assault and sex trafficking to achieve a healthy, happy and productive life in the communities that have supported their recovery.
With the passion of R&R’s volunteer committee, monies were raised over 5 weeks with a variety of events including a Soup and Chili Cook-Off, Jeans Days, Forgotten Easter Egg Hunt, and a thrilling Live Auction. These efforts led up to a donation to Dorothy’s House for $22,765.25.
R&R Realty Group is pleased to announce the recent United Way campaign results with a record year by raising a total of $142,567.00. Because of the R&R team’s generosity, we were able to make a tremendous contribution to the United Way of Central Iowa to provide necessary programs and services to help local people in need.
Youth Emergency Services & Shelter
This past year the employees of R&R Realty Group conducted a fundraising campaign for Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS). YESS is a comprehensive non-profit organization that works to help Central Iowa children newborn to age 17 with social, physical, and mental health emergencies. YESS recently finished a capital campaign that resulted in a 19,000 SF. addition to their Des Moines building, raising total bed count from 60 to 92.
Over a five week period, various fundraisers were held including a Potato Bar, Friday Jeans Days and a Live Auction. The total amount raised for YESS was over $13,000. A heartfelt thank you to all of our customers, vendors and employees that donated items for our Live Auction!
YMCA Supportive Housing
R&R volunteers helped to serve a meal to approximately 55-65 homeless at the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus in Des Moines.
“YMCA Supportive Housing is a community solution to help eliminate homelessness by providing Hope, Dignity, and Support in the form of permanent supportive housing. The Housing First Model helps people who are homeless (or who are at-risk of homelessness) move into stable and secure permanent housing supplemented by supportive services. Case management, transportation assistance, food/clothing/hygiene pantries, rental assistance, and other services help people meet their basic needs and reach their life goals. The campus provides a place to call home for 140 men and women. The constant wait list demonstrates the needs for affordable housing in the community.”
For over 10 years, R&R Realty Group has teamed up with the Greater Des Moines affiliate of Rebuilding Together to assist a local family in “rebuilding” their home. R&R employees, paired with numerous vendor volunteers, came together and worked hard to make a family’s dream come true.
Rebuilding together is the leading volunteer organization that, in partnership with the community, rehabilitates the homes of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled, and families with dependent children. There is no cost to qualified homeowners for the services provided. Non-profit facilities can also qualify for services. Although plans and preparations go on throughout the year, volunteers come together for one glorious day of hard work, Rebuilding Day, traditionally the first Saturday in May.
Since its founding in 1994, the Greater Des Moines affiliate has revitalized 378 homes and non-profit facilities.
Food Bank of Central Iowa
R&R Realty Group is Combating Hunger in Central Iowa. Each year, with the generous help of our tenants, R&R Realty Group sponsors a food drive for Combat Hunger. The objective of Combat Hunger is to provide enough food to feed hungry Iowans during the most severe weeks of winter through community-wide involvement in the massive food drive in Support of the Food Bank of Central Iowa.
R&R Realty Group’s Annual Blood Drive
R&R Realty Group is proud to team up with their employees and tenants on their annual blood drive during late May/early June. R&R works in conjunction with the Blood Center of Iowa to set up a schedule where the Blood Center comes to the office allowing R&R employees to contribute the valuable gift of life. Not only do the employees get involved, but the tenants are also given the opportunity to make a lifesaving donation. Scheduled stops at all of R&R’s properties allow for a convenient way for our customers to contribute to the community’s blood supply.
Each day, every two seconds, someone with the United States will require a procedure in which blood or blood products are needed. At R&R, we are dedicated to helping the Blood Center of Iowa’s goal to make sure blood is available to patients who need it-when they need it.
Over the years, R&R Realty Group partnered with West Des Moines Human Services to offer holiday assistance to families in need. R&R employees purchased food and gifts to help alleviate the financial burden of the holiday season for low-income residents of West Des Moines. R&R employees were fortunate to adopt two families; we were able to purchase shoes, clothes, toys, food and gift certificates for additional necessities.
